Our client is one of the world’s largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and defense products.

You will be responsible to:
 
•Develop appropriate rules, procedures and standards that address EH&S risks and hazards and ensure these are deployed throughout the operation.

•Actively train & develop staff of up to 9 direct reports
•Participation in site investigations is required. Assist supervision and site leadership in EH&S incident investigations to ensure appropriate root cause and mistake proof solutions are implemented to prevent recurrence. Advise supervision and fellow management team members on corrective action and hazard mitigation.

•Assesses compliance to regulatory requirements, performance trends, at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions and facility needs and develop comprehensive corrective actions by utilizing the tools and processes required by the site and corporate programs.

•Maintain records and documents according to the program

•Establish appropriate prevention and control methods. Advise and approve site operating decisions for new/modified operations, processes and/or equipment for environment, health and safety impacts prior to induction within the facility, by supporting the site Management of Change program.

•Interface, as necessary, with corporate compliance staff and governmental agencies to maintain regulatory compliance, including conducting periodic audits, annual reporting, new equipment/process permitting applications

•Provide regulatory and practical EH&S training for the workforce as applicable, through the development and implementation of specific training course materials and development of an annual EH&S Education and Training Plan.  
 
•To assume a liaison role between all EH&S functions and line managers.

•Management of all EH&S programs and issues to ensure the protection of employees from industrial accidents, occupational and environmental health hazards, and fire.
•Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements

•Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards
•Attend scheduled EH&S training program

•Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans

•BA/BS degree w/10+ years experience
•MA/MS degree w/7+ years experience
Prefer professional EHS Certifications
*Experience / Qualifications  
•10+ years experience  of related EHS experience within a highly matrixed, manufacturing organization.
•Proven ability to train & develop staff, interact and effectively communicate to all levels of employee population including Sr. leadership.
•Experience with VPP, ISO18001 & ISO14001 highly desired
•Knowledge of and ability to lead the site to earn both the ISO 14000 Occupational Health and Safety Management System and ISO 18000 Environmental Management System certifications.
