Our client, a leader in the Home Fashions industry (bed, bath & kitchen), is looking for an experienced and dedicated GRAPHIC DESIGNER/ MERCHANDISER/PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT person to add to their growing team!
Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to carry out the product development, merchandising and graphic designing of a wide variety of products. The ideal candidate should be well organized, have solid communication skills and have an eye for fashion. You will be researching trends, putting an assortment together , creating artwork for the different commodities in home décor. Trend awareness, creativity and relationship building are key. You will have knowledge and a good understanding of fabrics and materials. You will contribute to the development of seasonal concepts.
Responsibilities:
Research and present the big ideas in Home décor for the season on presentation boards
Monitor trends, researches new materials, concepts and ideas that reflect the seasonal direction
Provide graphic art production, layout and design
Image retouching and manipulation
Create or modify packaging customized for customer when necessary
Prepare customized presentation and item boards for each client
Develop concepts and visual support ,design and create prints, patterns and colors options to fit the collection of the season and also customized to customers requests
Working with customers and presenting collections/ items when in showroom
Understand the fundamentals of the production and printing process materials and fabrics as it impacts graphic designs
Create technical packages and spec sheets
Communicate with various vendors overseas for product inquiries and follow-up
Maintaining showroom / sample room
Ensure that samples / packages are prepared for dispatch to clients or suppliers
Organizing and filing of paperwork
Manage deadlines

Requirements:
Diploma in Fashion Design
Minimum of 2 years in graphic design and fashion industry. Home décor industry is an asset
Must provide a portfolio to showcase work
Experience in product / retail environment is an asset
Excellent fashion sense and product knowledge
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is an absolute must
Excellent understanding of typography, layout and branding
Superior creative and design skills
Highly organized, flexible and able to balance several projects and prioritize workload
Solid communication skills
Ability to work with tight deadlines
Team player
Travel may be required
Bilingual (French and English) written and spoken
