Merchandise Planner
 
Salary: to be discussed  

specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Plan and manage the divisional merchandise financial plans that align with the corporate strategies
  • Prepare and present in partnership the business line reviews with the Buying & Merchandising team
  • In partnership with the Buyer(s) develop the merchandise financial plans and assortment by seasonality based on customer demand
  • Partner with the Buyer(s) to manage inventory and margin through in season forecast and weekly glide path by seasonality
  • Schedule monthly forecast meetings with buyer to review the season’s trends and performance while applying learning to future forecasts
  • Manage with confidence the plan and in season purchases to ensure risks are mitigated and opportunities are fueled
  • Prepare analytics as detailed to the sku/store level with recommendations on action to be taken to address slow selling and aged merchandise
  • Follow up on all inventory management decisions to optimize full price sell through in season
  • Provide markdown analysis with recommendations to stimulate sales on first markdown, with regular performance follow up to maximize sales and margin
  • Partner with the Buyer(s) to plan and execute an exit strategy for season and year ending inventory of seasonal merchandise
  • Understand current trends, opportunities, assortment, and competition with the buyer’s vision by category to effectively assort merchandise at location level
  • Partner with the Buyer(s) on season and year-end post-mortems to be used when preparing future plans
  • Complies with all Health & Safety policies and requirements

 
  The ideal candidate:

  • Post secondary degree/diploma within a Business related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of successful analytical experience in a merchant, retail or financial position
  • Excellent financial acumen, strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills who demonstrates professional and mature communication
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a dedication to delivering accuracy
  • Self-starter, solid problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-pace, ambiguous environment
  • Proficient in Word, Power Point and Outlook; advanced knowledge of excel and merchandise software
