Our client, a dynamic, innovative fashion design and development company based in Saint Laurent, focused on creating high-quality, sustainable, and stylish apparel, is in search of a Technical Designer to add to their team. Committed to pushing the boundaries of design through creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability, as the technical designer, you would work on their menswear, womenswear and pet apparel lines. Working closely with the design, production, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are accurately translated into high quality products, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring technical aspects are developed thoroughly.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain accurate tech packs, including detailed garment specifications, construction details, measurements, and materials for each style.
- Assist with fit sessions, analyze samples, and ensure that garment prototypes meet fit, construction, and quality requirements.
- Communicate and work with pattern makers, sample makers, and factories to implement adjustments and improve fit and functionality.
- Work closely with designers to ensure that design concepts are technically feasible, ensuring a smooth transition from concept to production.
- Review and assess patterns and samples for technical accuracy and to ensure they adhere to design intent. Provide clear feedback to pattern makers and sample makers.
- Ensure quality standards are upheld throughout the development process by conducting thorough checks on fabrics, trims, and final products.
- Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during manufacturing. Ensure production timelines are met while maintaining technical specifications.
- Keep detailed records of all technical design activities, from sketches and tech packs to sample reviews and revisions, ensuring timely updates and communication.
- Stay current with industry trends, garment technologies, and sustainable practices to contribute to the development of innovative, high-quality products.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical design, pattern making, or apparel production, within the fashion industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Illustrator, Gerber, or Optitex) and strong technical knowledge of garment construction, fitting, and patternmaking.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot issues early and problem-solve effectively.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- A genuine interest in sustainable fashion practices and eco-friendly materials is a plus.
- Fluency in both English and French is highly desirable.
