Designer

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Design Director, the Fashion Designer will be responsible for coordinating and executing the design and development of tops, primarily sweaters, cut-and-sew, and woven styles. This role will take ownership of the product development process, including style ideation, fabric sourcing, prototype specifications, and tech packs.
The successful candidate will stay informed on current fashion trends, competitive markets, and consumer preferences while ensuring products are developed within target pricing objectives. The ideal candidate will have several years of hands-on experience designing fashion sweaters and a strong understanding of the product development process.
Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the design creation from conception to final salesman samples of seasonal collection.
  • Provide overall category trends and ideation seasonally for brand collection.
  • Communicate with suppliers, coordinate sample requests, negotiate costs, and track development progress.
  • Maintain and update product data, internal tracking systems, and linesheets
  • Create clear detailed tech packs
  • Manage the product development calendar and ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Oversee fittings as needed and collaborate with teams on product approval
  • Prepare for sign offs, product meetings, and trade events
  • Monitor sales performance and assist in making data driven decisions
  • Conduct competitor research
  • Support additional projects and tasks as needed

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • DEC in Fashion Design or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
  • 8+ years preferred in a similar role(s)
  • Excellent organization, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Good Microsoft office skills
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Strong judgment with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team
  • Strong understanding of the fashion industry, product development, and current market trends.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow.
