The Senior Designer / Merchandiser manages the seasonal design development process, from concept to delivery, by creating and executing original, trend-appropriate design concepts (CADS) that meet market needs and drive sales, and coordinating the timely execution of each stage in the process. The designer must have previous experience designing and putting together a budget priced line, as well as having some marketing saavy and be able to work private label programs with both Canadian and US majors.
Research and identify trend directions, oversee and review fabrics, design concepts, presentation boards (cads) for meetings, mock ups, color ups. Execute development of initial seasonal design category, devise style plans and design according to sales needs and emerging trends, ensure timely execution of product development calendar. Create illustrator sketches, spec sheets, line sheets, line sheets. Select and review raw materials and trims, approve lab dips and ensure consistency with color standards. Order and follow up on / approve samples, PP and production samples.
The senior designer / merchandiser will be responsible to follow up with internal and external partners, manage interoffice communication and relationships with vendors. Daily communication with overseas factories.
Our client is looking for someone with several years of experience designing and merchandising a budget priced womenswear clothing line (Walmart, Sears, Kohls, JC Penny, etc). Superior organizational skills, excellent communication skills required. Creative, strong technical abilities, strong ability to create CADS. Highly proficient in Microsoft office, Adobe, CAD (illustrator, photoshop).
