Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join their growing team. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing fashion apparel, accessories, luxury goods, electronics and home decor that fit into their off price model.
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for a business plan and the overall strategy and management of the buying team. You will source products that they share with subscribers every day, and in turn provide a customizable way for brands to connect with a new customer base. Negotiate terms of sale, price point and margins, You will build and maintain a strategy in order to hit weekly, monthly and quarterly goals (themes, promotions, etc), provide status reports to management. You should have a strong understanding of the product category, market and growth opportunities in order to implement an action plan in order to achieve your goals. Monitor sales reports, conduct financial analysis in order to identify business opportunities and identify and close gaps in order to meet and exceed key performance indicators. There will be some travel to attend trade shows (10% of your time).
In order to qualify for this position, you should have a bachelors degree as well as at least 8 years of experience as a senior buyer / category manager for an off price retailer (brick and mortar or ecommerce). Strong negotiation skills, experience managing a team of buyers. You will be responsible for multi million dollar categories, so you need to have a proven track record of delivering results while juggling multiple projects. You should ideally have a solid network of supplier contacts in the industry.
