Responsibilities:
– Organize, plan, control and oversee Ocean/Air Freight Import operations and activities
– Ensure timeliness, quality, conformity and control over departmental production flow of shipment files handling and closing, overseas affiliates’ remittance and P/L’s, vendors’ invoices approving and month-end closing processes
– Review import documents for accuracy
– Ensure proper HS Codes for duty proposes
– Communicate with vendors to follow up shipments and documents
– Communicate with vendors to ensure deliveries dates are as promised
– Track inbound shipments and advise shipping of potential schedule changes
– Prepare import documents and file entries prior to arrival of cargo
– Assist in communications and shipping requirements with suppliers overseas regarding production
– Improve internal efficiency of systems and processes
– Play a leading role in ocean/air carrier contracts’ negotiations
– Perform regular business intelligence activities in the market and keep the Company informed on market conditions, trends and competitor’s activities in ocean markets
– Create or validate PO’s
– Update reports relating to traffic/production
– Verify and update actual cost

Skills & Attributes:
– 5+ years of experience in a similar role
– Strong organization, planning, decision-making and problem-solving skills
– Strong teamwork skills
– Ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment
– Excellent knowledge of Excel
– Prior experience with EDI and/or Visual Next an asset
