Our client, a growing importer of women’s apparel, is looking for an Assistant Designer to add to their team.
Responsibilities:
-Along with the head designer, the assistant designer will do research and development for new collections
-Sketch and create teck packs for a sportswear collection (knit and woven tops, bottoms and outerwear).
-Assist in fit sessions, communicate with makers on a daily basis.
-Photograph all garments for the salesmen’s catalogs.
-Compile salesmen’s catalogs with the designer.
-Create a style master catalog of all original samples for design department
-Create special customer line sheets and presentations
-Create all color cards with designer for design department and sales team each season.
-Update timeline sample planner with FOB’s and revised photos until the end of the development process.
-Collect prototype sample price approvals from makers and production manager.
-Approval of all fabric quality, trims, lab dips, strike offs and labels for production with design and production teams.
-Prepare SMS stickers and tags to send to makers.
-Work with fit technician and designer to ensure consistency of fit and sample accuracy through various sample stages.
Requirements:
-Technical skills must include Adobe Illustrator, photoshop and / or Indesign, Excel
-Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ladies apparel
-Fluently bilingual
-Must have a working knowledge of garment construction in both cut and sew knits, wovens and sweaters.
-Must be able to work as part of a team
